More of Adrian

We woke up this a.m to a wonderful surprise. Doug had emailed us new pics of Adrian. He has been trying to get pics of Adrian for us but keeps missing him. He thought that he was attending preschool at Newday but found out that Adrian comes with his foster mother to bring his foster brother Evan to preschool. Doug has to be spot on to catch him.

The riding toy is like one that our neighbor has. AnnaLi loves it . Now I know who else is going to want to ride it. Thankfully Ann has two of them and says our sweet boy can ride it anytime.

Our little man swimming

One of the greatest blessings in this adoption is that Adrian is at Newday Foster home where our friends work. He actually is in foster care in a Chinese home but attends activities at Newday and attends preschool at Newday. They do so many neat and stimulating things with these kids. We can look online at Newday's site and see the activities and recent pictures that they post to their scrapbook and their blog. These are some that Chris saw online yesterday. He is such a cutie and somebody SHAVED his head. :).

Boy do they look alike

AnnaLi at 6 months
Adrian at 4-5 months (not sure exactly)

The first time I saw Adrian's picture I immediately thought he looked like AnnaLi. I didn't realize how much until I put their pics side by side. I did that when I first saw him but had not really done it again since. This weekend I walked by AnnaLi's pic and did a double-take so I pulled them back out. WOW!!! The similarity is unbelievable. God is so good!

New Picture of Adrian

On Newday's blog they posted that Adrian has been matched with a family --US!!! Here is a picture taken a few days ago.
Here is the update we received:
Adrian is 1 Year 8 Months Old.
Adrian’s Foster Mom wrote this update:
We have wonderful news on Adrian! He is now matched with an adoptive family. We are so happy and excited for him and look forward to the day his parents are able to come and get him.
Adrian is a smart, happy little boy. He is speaking three to five words, like “drink more”, “bye bye daddy”, etc. He relates well to adults and children and loves to laugh and play. He loves laughing while running after his shadow under the sunshine. He enjoys helping me with housework.
Adrian shares food with his brother and is enjoying a more balanced relationship with him. He is also becoming more sensitive to the feelings of others and affectionately calling “Daddy” when his foster daddy returns home from work and asks for hugs.
A few days after receiving a haircut, he went to the mirror and checked himself out. He became happy with what he saw and laughed at his reflection. I am very thankful for the opportunity to take care of this special little boy.

June update on Adrian

Now that it is official that Adrian is our little boy, we can receive monthly updates about how he is doing. This is the June update. What a blessing that we can get updates since he is at Newday foster home!

Adrian’s foster mom wrote this update:

Adrian is really lovely and everybody likes him. He is really handsome and polite. When you see him he gets excited and will call your name out loud. He is really smart! He can imitate people really well. He is a very fast learner. He likes to watch his foster mom’s actions. He understands what his foster mom tells him and he does whatever he is told to do. At the same time he has things inside of his heart that he freely expresses. He can also walk and run really well. What a wonderful boy he is becoming!

Updated pic of Adrian

This pic was taken May 2009 at a business lunch in Beijing where the children of Newday were honored and Newday shared about their work.

It's official. We've been approved

The last few weeks have been so exciting. To start, I have to say that at about 6:45 p.m. tonight we received the call from our social worker that we had pre-approval from China to officially adopt Adrian. So, now we can share the news.

To back up a little bit--On July 5, 2009 (Sunday) I spent all day finalizing any paperwork that our agency might need if the special needs list came out that coming week. Sunday night I was soooo tired but keyed up from the excitement. Monday night I was wiped out from a late night on Sunday. About 9 p.m. I declared I was headed to bed. About that time the phone rang and it was our social worker. There was only one reason that she would be calling at this time of night. I picked up the phone and the first thing she said was , "We got your little boy". I just started crying. She said , "you don't how much of a God thing this is". "Oh, yes I do, " I said. She went on to tell me that our China facilitator was about to board a plane to leave China to fly to the U.S. for an agency Reunion. At this point it is Tuesday morning china time. The list came out that morning in China and our facilitator had two hours to work on finding his file on the list. When she emailed our social worker the file, our social worker kept quesitoning, "are you sure it is the right little boy?". The facilitator assured her that it was. We hung up the phone and cried and prayed and gave thanks to our Sovereign Heavenly Father who is able to move mountains. We were so excited, shocked, in awe, etc that God would do this for us. I had prayed that if this was the child for us that He would make it very clear and there would be NO gray areas. Well, it was pretty clear. I knew the road ahead would not be an easy one with multiple surgeries so I had also prayed that the Lord would give me that confirmation that I would know, that I know that I know this was from HIm. Thank you Lord for showing us this unbelievable miracle! Now, back to the story.

After a few minutes they sent us Adrian's file through an email. Normally with a Special needs child you have 48 hours to have the file reviewed by a medical team, etc. Before we opened the file, I asked Chris what we would do if it was not the right little boy. He said, "we pray really hard". As that picture began to open we saw the precious face of the little boy we have been praying for and God gave him to US. HOw awesome is that? About 10:45 p.m. we got another call from our agency saying that they hated to put pressure on us but our facilitator was in HOng Kong and about to board a plane. She would be traveling for at least 24 hours and if she could accept the referral for us before she boarded that would be awesome. How could we say no to God now? So, we said YES!!! Before we went to bed Monday night we had accepted his referral. Our paperwork was submitted to China for review . This is an abbreviated form of the paperwork. After review they would pre-approve us to adopt Adrian. So, we couldn't officially post it until that came in. Today is the day! woohoo. On Tuesday July 7, 2009 we had his file reviewed by a dr. at the Intl adoption Clinic and she confirmed that he is healthy!

Here are some of the precious pics that we received in the referral. These were taken Aug 2008 when he was 9 months old.
